Sunday 5th October 2008
On the 5th October St Paul's held another of its now famous Breakfast Services. A representative from the M25 charity, Steph Robinson spoke about the work of the M25 Housing and Support Group which helps homeless people in Doncaster take the first steps back to a normal lifestyle. The service included a graphic video presentation of the problems of homelessness throughout the world. A donation was given by the people of St Paul's in addition to the gifts of Harvest produce from St Paul's Harvest Festival. M25 is based on Matthew 25:40 "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me"
Sunday, 6th July 2008.
At the recent City Celebration event, before the guest speaker, the congregation was given an insight into the work of Teen Challenge, which was founded in 1958 by David Wilkerson in New York City, USA. and is now one of the foremost Christian organisations in the UK offering positive help to young people trapped by addictions and other life controlling problems. Two powerful testimonies were given by young men who had been helped by Teen Challenge and both said how their lives had been changed by this experience and their belief in the saving Grace of Jesus. For those of you who may not be aware, David Wilkerson was instrumental in bringing Nicky Cruz to faith in Christ. Nicky now has an evangelistic ministry helping young people come to Christ in urban environments over the world.
The guest speaker, Mick Woodhead (Rector St. Thomas Crookes) gave a powerful talk about how Christians should be the Church in the community rather than in a building. He gave an example of where once a month the congregation of St. Thomas Crookes went into the community to show people the love of Christ through actions and help. During the City Celebration service he asked the congregation to text people they know telling them that God loved them. The replies varied from acceptance of the messages to phrases like "you weirdo"!!!

A speaker from the Gideons spoke about the saving Grace of Christ through the written word; the Bible, and how he had seen many people in despair come to Christ through reading the bible. A gift of £50.00 was given by St Paul's to help further the work of the Gideons.
Wheatley Churches Together
Together with St Paul's, Wheatley Churches Together held the annual open-air service on Sunday 22nd June. Before the service members from all the churches walked around Wheatley accompanied by the Wheatley Boys Brigade. At the service a representative of Samaritan's Purse spoke about the work that was being done with children in areas of deprivation in other countries. The Boys Brigade led the worship with "Be Still for the Presence of the Lord" and "Amazing Grace", whilst St Paul's musicians finished the worship with "Brother let me be Your servant" and "In Christ alone my hope is found". The collection raised the magnificent sum of £230 for the work of Samaritan's Purse.
Pentecost at St Paul's
At a well attended Pentecost service, St Paul's welcomed the gift of The Holy Spirit in a reflective manner and The Ven. Bob Fitzharris celebrated Holy Communion. The service, whilst following Common Worship, included the use of multi-media presentations. One of which was a visual presentation of the Beatitudes sung by Russian Monks. The service concluded with "Marching in the Light of God". A number of St Paul's people said afterwards that they had felt that this Pentecost was special.
Easter at St Paul's The Wheatley Churches Together Lent course were well attended, especially the ones held at lunch time. The Easter celebrations at St Paul's saw, once again, the congregation reflect on the death and resurrection of our Saviour. Following on from the Easter celebrations, on Sunday,13th April St Paul's held their usual breakfast service where the guest speaker, Captain Mick McTighe took as his theme "In Christ alone, our hope is found". The service revolved around the song and Mick spoke about the work The Church Army is doing by talking about and showing people the love of God and giving the message of hope "In Christ alone"
