Children's Society - Works with and for children to help them deal with life's harshest challenges and face the future with confidence. Christian Aid - An agency of the churches in the UK and Ireland working wherever the need is greatest – irrespective of religion or race. Its strategy is to strengthen people to find their own solutions to the problems they face, by supporting local organisations which are best placed to understand local needs. The organisation is striving for a new world transformed by an end to poverty and campaigns to change the rules that keep people poor. Church Army - Church Army is a society of evangelists linked to the Anglican Church but working outside church buildings to enable people to come to a living faith in Jesus Christ. They work in partnership with other people in local churches and community groups to share the Christian message of words and action in relevant and sensitive ways. Church Mission Society - CMS is a pioneering mission community with roots dating to 1799 which longs to see the transforming fullness of Christ unfolding in every culture. Members of CMS try to participate actively in Christian mission wherever they are; today there are about 150 mission partners in 26 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Fairtrade - The Fairtrade Foundation was established in 1992 to ensure that farmers in poorer areas of the world have access to the same lucrative markets as major multi-national producers. Grief and Loss Resources - A great resource for anyone who has been bereaved by death. Industrial Mission South Yorkshire - IMSY encourages a relevant Christian presence in the industrial and commercial world, offering support to people at work and their organisations and working to promote Christian values in industry and commerce. IMSY will shortly change its name to South Yorkshire Workplace Chaplaincy. Make Poverty History - A coalition of many international charities seeking to eradicate poverty throughout the world. Mission Doncaster - supports the uniting of the Church in Doncaster in its call to mission both within the town, and beyond and seeks to help Christians in Doncaster to realise the full potential of the Gospel in their lives.
Mothers Union - The MU is a Christian
organisation with more than three and a half million members worldwide.
The backbone of the MU is its worldwide network of volunteers joined
together by a commitment to marriage and family. Volunteers give their
time to help others, whether by running local projects, supporting
international campaigns, or fundraising. The MU also employs over 300
paid workers around the world who provide vital leadership for efforts
in the community. For example they enable people to gain essential
skills, develop and encourage sustainable self-help projects, and run
training seminars for local MU members and the wider community.
One Heart One Voice - A Christian Leadership Network for the Doncaster area which aims to support leaders by providing a focus for sustained and united prayer, facilitating the unity of Christian Leadership, resourcing and supporting local Christian Leaders, connecting leaders with other leaders. It also seeks to establish and maintain relations with local ecumenical mission bodies, regional conferences, national councils, networks of churches and other ecumenical organisations. Open Doors is the world's largest outreach to persecuted Christians. They work in the most high-risk places for Christians on earth, where the Gospel costs the most. Projects are extensive, seeking to support Christians where the Church is often forced underground. The Diocese of Sheffield - For information about the Diocese and the many services it provides for the people of this part of South Yorkshire. St John's Guild for the Blind - The Guild seeks to reduce the loneliness and isolation of those with a visual impairment and to encourage independent living. It does this via a series of branches throughout the United Kingdom and by providing residential and respite care and short holidays by the sea. The Guild also publishes literature in Braille, large print and on audiotape. The Taizé Community - Situated in the south of Burgundy, France, Taizé is the home of an international, ecumenical community, founded in 1940. The brothers are committed for their whole life to material and spiritual sharing, to celibacy, and to a great simplicity of life. Today, the community is made up of over a hundred brothers, Catholics and from various Protestant backgrounds, from more than twenty-five nations. At the heart of daily life in Taizé are three times of prayer together. The brothers live by their own work. and some of them live in small groups among the very poor. Since the late 1950s, many thousands of young adults from many countries have found their way to Taizé to take part in weekly meetings of prayer and reflection. USPG - The United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel (USPG) enables people to grow spiritually, to thrive physically and to have a voice in an unjust world. As an Anglican mission agency, they do this alongside churches and communities around the world, providing the resources - people, money and ideas - that they define as necessary to meet local needs. Work involves pastoral care, social action and supporting training programmes. Water Aid - WaterAid's vision is of a world where everyone has access to safe water & effective sanitation. Whirlow Grange - A resource facility within the Diocese that concentrates on personal and spiritual development. professional, vocational and corporate training and Christian hospitality. It offers high quality residential and non-residential accommodation for conferences, courses, training, seminars, workshops, retreats, quiet days, receptions, parties and other events |
