While walking down
life’s highway, amongst the shops galore,
I saw a sign that simply read “Heaven’s Grocery Store”.
As I got a little closer, the door was open wide,
And soon I realised that I was standing there inside.
I saw a host of angels who were standing everywhere,
One handed me a basket, saying “Remember, shop with care”,
Everything a Christian needed was in that grocery store,
And if you couldn’t carry all, return next day for more.
First I found some Patience, and Love in the same row,
Further down was Understanding, you need that where ere you go.
I got a box of Wisdom, a bag or two of Faith,
I couldn’t miss the Holy Spirit, it was all around the place.
Then I noticed Strength and Courage, to help me run this race,
As my basket was filling up I remembered that I needed Grace.
I didn’t forget Salvation, and since it happened to be free
I thought I’d get enough of it to save both you and me,
As
I went towards the check-out to pay my grocery bill,
I thought that I had everything to do the Master’s will.
Then I noticed Prayers and just had to put them in
For I knew that once I stepped outside, I might run into sin.
Peace and Joy were plentiful, covering the last shelf,
Songs and Praise were hanging near so I just helped myself.
When I asked the angel, “How much do I owe?”
He smiled at me and said “Just take them everywhere you go.”
I asked again and said “Please tell me, how much do I owe?”
“My child,” he said, “Your bill was paid by Jesus long ago.”
